Rays Visit Yankees for Weekend Series

The Tampa Bay Rays will face the Yankees at Yankee Stadium for the second time this season. The earlier series in the Bronx resulted in a series sweep by the Rays.

Probable Starters: Game 1

David Price (TB)                                                                                   CC Sabathia (NYY)

David Price will toe the rubber against the Yankees on Friday and is coming off of a career strike out performance. Price struck out 14 Twins during his last start. David Price will probably be on a pitch count considering he is still very young in his development process. Price has the potential to rack up bunches and bunches of strike outs if he gets ahead early in the count.

CC Sabathia will face the Rays on Friday and we all know how CC can pitch great. CC Sabathia will have to get his location and velocity going early and when it gets going it is hard to stop. Sabathia had a great start against Cleveland last Saturday. Sabathia can go the distance in any of his starts. If the bullpen needs rest expect to go 8 or 9 innings if he is pitching well.

Probable Starters: Game 2

Matt Garza (TB)                                                                           Joba Chamberlain (NYY)

Matt Garza will have to contend with the Yankees on Saturday. Garza is having a pretty good season. It seems like very game he is getting 7, 8, or 9 strike outs. Garza can go deep into games and has a power arm. Garza is not afraid to go after batters no matter what the situation is.

Joba Chamberlain will get the start for the Yankees on Saturday. If Chamberlain can do what he did and go 7 or more innings expect the Yankees to win this game if that happens. Joba can get double digits in strike outs easily but, that runs his pitch count up. If Joba pitches to contact and doesn’t always go for the K he will go deep into this game.

Probable Starters: Game 3

Andy Sonnanstine (TB)                                                                          A.J. Burnett (NYY)

Andy Sonnanstine will have to throw strikes against the Yankees on Sunday. When Andy gets behind batters he will give up runs and home runs. If Sonnanstine can get ahead of batters he will be able to get outs and not give up as many runs.

A.J. Burnett is appealing his 6 game suspension and will pitch on Sunday. When Burnett gets ahead of batters he will rack up serious strike out numbers. He will not allow many runs when he has got it going. if he falls behind he will allow alot of walks and may give up a few runs.

Probable Starters: Game 4

Jeff Niemann (TB)                                                                                Andy Pettitte (NYY)

Jeff Niemann will face the Yankees in the finale of the 4 game series on Monday. If Niemann can’t locate he will be out of the game early. That means the Yankees would be ahead by 5, 6, 7, 8, or even 9 runs. Niemann will have to groove a couple of pitches during an at bat so expect a few home runs.

Andy Pettitte will take the mound trying to rebound from a rough outing on Wednesday. Pettitte will be looking to throw around the strike zone and will get people to chase and he will throw a lot of fastballs and breaking balls. If Pettitte can succeed he will lead the Yankees to victory in a close game.

Yankees Bail Out Wang

Well today I’ll have more to say about the game considering more runs and more story lines.

Chien-Ming Wang got his first start since coming off the DL and it wasn’t exactly what he and Yankees fans were hoping for. Wang only lasted 4.2 innings, allowed 5 runs but, struck out 5 batters, and gave up 1 home run.

The Yankee offense was on fire today and it started with Johnny Damons solo shot in the 1st inning.

Mark Teixeira knocked in 3 RBIs and had 2 Doubles.

At the end The Yankees Win, Theeeeeeeee Yankees Win!!!

A.J. Burnett Suspend 6 Games

Well I had a feeling that A.J. might get a fine but, not a 6 game suspension. OK I can see where the comissioner’s office is going with this but, they didn’t suspend Texas Pitcher Vicente Padilla for throwing 2 intentional pitches at Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira. They just fined Padilla but, Padilla according to an ESPN report will be placed on waivers. Which is not what he wanted probably but, as we all know this league is what have you done lately for most average players. So this means that Phil Hughes will probably take Burnett’s next start in the rotation before going to the bullpen.

Burnett is the Yankee’s leader in K’s and has the 4th Highest salary on the Yankees for the 2009 season.

Yankees Fall to Rangers

                    Rangers 4, Yankees 2

Well the Yankees lost but I am able to pick out the positives of this game for the Yankees.

Even though Andy Pettitte allowed 4 earned and lost he struck out 6 and surrendered no home runs. Now that has been tough at Yankee Stadium to do. He also didn’t get hurt so good news there.

Also A-Rod and Posada remain in nice grooves with Jorge hitting a home run and A-Rod getting an RBI. The minimum offense wasn’t good enough though.

Hideki Matsui continues to make solid contact and is looking way better than he did in April and Mid-May.

I don’t really have that much positives in a slow low scoring game.

Yankees and Rangers Battle it Out in the Bronx

Well last night got me going about how Vicente Padilla is a disgrace to the Texas Rangers. He obviously doesn’t know that when a batter is up at the plate it is his job to knock the crap out of it. Padilla obviously can’t forget that Mark Teixeira like I don’t know, about 4-5 years ago Tex hit 2 homers off of him in his first 2 at bats. I am trying to find out when this became a reason to hit someone in the leg, shoulder, and around the head in baseball. Padilla isn’t even that great of a pitcher to be allowing extra men on base.

Is it better to look like this after a game……

or like this after an outing on the mound?

I don’t know it speaks for itself.

The return of Jorge Posada is making the line up even more dangerous considering he hit another home run last night.

Another player that I am excited to come back is Xavier Nady. He will be a wonderful player to have to give someone else rest. Now I know when he comes back the Yankees are going to need to move someone. It will probably be Nady and maybe try to get a relief arm or two for him. Maybe trade him to Washington for Ron Villone? I don’t know I am just a fan that wants to fuel the summer trade talks maybe.

Derek Jeter has been flying under the radar and the Captain is doing great. He went 3-4 last night and scored his 1,500 run as a member of the New York Yankees. This could be one of Jeter’s best seasons to date in the Bronx.

It is great to see Hideki Matsui catching on fire now too, considering he is the DH. He needs to continue whatever he is doing to be in this groove. I will admit I was throwing him under the bus at the beggining of the season and I am glad he is proving me wrong. I love being proved wrong when it is for something I love, like Yankees baseball.

It is great to see the Yankees playing team ball again and they look united.

The series will continue tonight and it looks to maybe be an offensive battle.

Tonights Pitchers

TEX: Feldman (4-0)

NYY: Pettitte (5-1)
